Embracing Complexity is written in a fairly conventional style. It gives a good overview of complexity theory and its implications for strategy, change and economics.

The Dao of Complexity is more wide-ranging and has been designed more as a ‘drop in’ or ‘browse’ book. There are sections on science and uncertainty and the background to complexity; there are sections on philosophy, which compare complexity with Daoism and other traditions. There are pieces on global issues, reflections on management practice, discussions on politics, on ways of knowing, and personal development. The idea is that you can pick up the book at any place and find what is of interest to you. Although do read the introduction before you head off into the unknown.
